Portfolio Manager

About this Position:
The Portfolio Manager position is a mid level position supporting the Investment Team.
I. JOB SUMMARY:
The Portfolio Manager position will support the Investment Team in the following areas:
1) portfolio management, 2) investment administration, and 3) research.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Job Responsibilities:
1) Portfolio Management
· Prepare assessments of existing investments and organize quarterly portfolio reviews.
· Spread financial statements and assess MFI performance metrics and trends.
· Monitor client compliance with financial and reporting covenants.
· Draft Investment Performance Update for Board of Directors and shareholders.
2) Investment Administration
· Work directly with MFI senior management to execute loan and equity transactions as well as potential renewals, amendments, and waivers.
· Source qualified in-country lawyers to provide counsel for documentation: loan agreements, promissory notes, shareholder agreements, legal opinions, etc..
· Provide loan administrative support to the Finance & Accounting Team to facilitate disbursement and collections.
3) Country Research/ Business Prospecting Support
· Conduct desk analysis of political, economic, and sovereign risk.
· Assess microfinance regulation and supervision within country.
· Assess environment for conducting business and enforcing legal contracts.
· Monitor prevailing interest rates and equity valuations by country.
· Assess MFI market potential, and track other deals placed in the market.

Washington, D.C. Metro Area, with possible travel
IV. QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal person will: 1) be a college graduate, MBA preferred 2) have a general understanding of microfinance institutions as a tool used in economic development, 3) be fluent in English and Spanish, 4) offer strong research skills and be extremely detail-oriented and 5) offer strong contract administration, with preference for experience in the banking/investment industry.
